I'm an indie developer (Otter Play) and a research associate at the Institute of Digital Games at the University of Malta. My main area of research is AI-driven game design. The research approach I have adopted includes exploration of the social multi-player game-design space through experimental implementations of prototypes where both novel and established AI-techniques are used. My dissertation work (2009) explored characterization and story construction in MMO’s focusing semi-autonomous avatars. Before I went into research (2003) I was lead game programmer at Liquid Media in Stockholm. My first brush with game research was in the applied research studio Zero-Game of the Interactive Institute in Sweden where I was technical lead (2004).
